1 year Diploma in Software Engineering
PNY Trainings is on its way to bringing some exceptional study and career options for the technology-loving youth. On 27 October 2019, at the PNY headquarters an inaugural ceremony of the Diploma in Software Engineering (DSE) was held after the Entry Test of the first batch.
1. What is DSE?
A diploma in software engineering in Rawalpindi & Islamabad is a compressed form of a four-year software engineering program offered by leading universities in Pakistan. Considering the real importance of information technology and software development, some students want to pick the subject. Not all aspiring students are lucky enough to access a regular university or to work in a program for four years.

2. Entry Test format
On 27 October 2019, the entry test was held for the first batch of 1-year software engineering diploma in Lahore Pakistan. Since the diploma program was launched for students belonging to multiple backgrounds such as matriculation, intermediate, and even graduation the test was general. Although candidates applied to be enrolled in a software engineering program considering their educational background paper setters set the test.
There were four sections of the test:
- General knowledge – to understand the basic IQ and understanding of the candidate. The questions were common and the purpose was to identify to what extent a candidate has an interest in multiple things.
- Computer –the purpose of to section was to assess the understanding of a candidate about the computer as a machine or its software. For any student who is willing to be in DSE or any other engineering course, it is important to have a basic understanding and knowledge.
- English – as it is a source of communication and teaching the students should have a better understating of basic English in writing, reading, and listening
- Math – software engineering is close to mathematics as involves codes and ratios in the app and web development.
Students had 30 minutes to complete the entry test exam. The total marks of the test were 30 to be in the selection list the candidates are supposed to score almost 50% marks in the evaluation test.
3. Orientation
After the test, in the orientation session, the candidates have the chance to learn about the beginning and vision of PNY Trainings. The speakers informed them about the objectives of the company and its aim to provide constructive and reality based trainings. All the previously offered successful programs and their results were shared with the candidates. All these programs are proof of success and ensure the successful completion of the DSE course at PNY as well.

4. Quiz Competition
Later orientation was followed by a quiz competition to engage the candidates and participants. There were general questions from general knowledge and riddles were part of it. 5. Panel Discussion
All the experts and course planners at PNY Trainings came for a panel discussion about the online diploma in software engineering course Rawalpindi. They shared their views and vision about the program and highlighted its need and importance at the same time. Moreover, they shared how the idea grew to plan and will be a reality soon with the fits batch. All the candidates asked numerous questions from the panelists regarding the online software engineering certificate and its validation.

Although it is not a four-year, time but all the contents and skill development in it make the certificate equivalent for employers to accept. 6. Announced Entry test result
After penal discussion, the names of successful candidates were revealed. Everyone congratulates them for qualifying for the entrance test requirement and being the part of first ever batch of diplomas in software engineering in Islamabad.
7. DSE Registration
Later all the qualifying candidates were asked to register themselves for further enrolment. The reason behind the quick registration was to give the candidates a schedule for classes and the whole session.
